ECU Repairs

Prior to repairing, we do a bench test to ascertain whether the computer box or module is faulty. Our simulators emulate the car engine, giving us a true reflection of how the computer box is performing.

ECU Repair, Decoding + Exchange

We are able to test, decode, immo-off and remanufacture all ECU’s including: ABS ECU’s, Airbag ECU’s, Engine ECU’s, Dashboard and Convenience / Comfort Control ECU’s and more. We do not only repair ECU’s but also carry a large number of ECU units in stock, ready to swap. We constantly update our stock lists to hold the more in demand ECU’s and offer our customers a wider range.
We have the latest in technology test rigs setup to extensively test all ECU’s as though they were plugged in to the vehicle. We test all ECU units for up to 24-48 hours so we’re able to verify every fault found and also catch out the intermittent faults and possibly any faults the customer was not even aware of.
Please Note: We give all our customers a full 3 to 6 months warranty.

How Much Should You Pay for ECU Replacement?

ECU replacement can be very expensive. The part alone can cost between R20,000 and R45,000, depending on the make and model of your vehicle.

Average Cost of Replacement at ECUXPRESS

You should expect to pay between R3,500 and R13,500 max. at our Xpress shop and service centre for close to New, Refurbished and Tested ECU’s. Our aim is to lower all costs, especially for those vehicles which are off motor plan. Most insurance companies take advantage of our services in this regard.
In cases of incompatibility on ECU’s, we are able to supply you with other replacement units that totally match your car. Depending on the make and model of your vehicle we will sometimes recommend you to get full locksets that are pre-programmed to plug and play.

Regardless of the vehicle, in order to solve the problem, we are able to retrieve key security information or reprogram the memory chip inside the module itself (immobilizer or ECU). The memory part which stores the key data sequence is called an EEPROM. EEPROM stands for "E"lectrically "E"rasable "P"rogrammable "R"ead "O"nly "M"emory. ATE ABS Pumps & modules
Commonly fitted to Volvo, VW, Audi, Seat, Skoda, Ford, Mercedes & Renault. ATE MK20, MK60, MK70, MK25, Mk50

BMW 3-Series, Z4 and 1-Series ABS DSC Pump Fault, 2005 - 2014
This is a very common failing ABS pump for most BMW vehicles built between 2005 & 2014, the common symptom is illumination of the ABS, DSC and handbrake warning lights. When diagnosing the fault, you will find fault codes stored of 5DF0 & 5DF1 which blame the hydraulic pump motor. We can rebuild your own unit with an unlimited mileage lifetime warranty.

Bosch ABS Pumps & modules
Commonly fitted to most makes of vehicle, common fault is a non communication fault and ABS light. Bosch 5.3, 5.7, 5.0, 5.5, 8.0

Wabco ABS Pumps & modules

Audi A3 ABS Pump Module

Very common fault causes the DSC / ASC lights to illuminate with fault code "5E20 - HYDRAULIC PRESSURE SENSOR INTERNAL"

Ford Focus & C-Max ABS Pump fault
This is a common problem for the Focus and C-Max, causes the ESP light to remain on the dash and the following fault code to be reported “C1288 Pressure Transducer Main/Primary Circuit Failure”

Honda CRV ESP ABS pump module problem
this is a very common problem for the Honda CRV built after 2004, the fault causes the ESP/ABS light to illuminate on the dash and a fault code for pressure sensor will be stored.

Jaguar X-Type ABS Pump Fault
Very common problem, causes the ABS light to illuminate on the dash and fault codes for pump motor and/or wheel speed sensors.

Mazda 3 ABS Pump fault
Common fault causing the ESP light to remain on and the following fault code reported "C1288 PRESSURE TRANSDUCER MAIN/PRIMARY CIRCUIT FAILURE"

Gearbox ECU

Diesel Pumps

Bosch VP44 Diesel Pumps (PSG5)
This Bosch VP44 diesel pump EDC is a very common failure, when this diesel pump fails it will normally cause the engine to not start.
The mechanical side of the pump is usually very reliable, nearly all of the faults we see are caused by the electronic diesel control unit (EDC) attached to the top of the pump.
Please note that we only test the EDC on top of the pump, we cannott test the mechanical part of the pump.
We are now able to repair/rebuild customers own VP44 diesel EDC control units and provide a lifetime warranty* or supply direct replacement units from stock (depending on part numbers).
